Privacy Policy

Effective 20 August 2026

The short version

We are a fractional ecommerce team, not an advertising business. We collect your information when you contact us, book a call, subscribe to our emails, or apply for a job, and we use analytics to understand how this site is used. We do not sell your personal information. If you want to know what we hold on you, or want it deleted, email info@gildgroup.com and we will handle it.

The rest of this page is the detail.

1Who we are

This site, gildgroup.com, is operated by Gild Group, LLC, a South Carolina limited liability company.

Gild Group, LLC
1859 Summerville Ave., Ste. 800
Charleston, SC 29405
info@gildgroup.com

In this policy, "Gild," "we," "us," and "our" mean Gild Group, LLC. "You" means anyone who visits this site or contacts us through it.

This policy covers the personal information we collect through gildgroup.com and through our direct business communications. It does not cover the data we process inside a client's own systems on that client's behalf, which is addressed in section 12.

2Information you give us

When you use the contact form. Your first name, last name, email address, subject, and the content of your message. You may also check an optional box to subscribe to our news and updates. That box is off by default and the form works without it.

When you book an intro call. Our scheduler is Squarespace Scheduling (Acuity), hosted at gildgroup.as.me. Booking a call means giving your name, email address, the time you selected, and anything you write into the booking notes. Squarespace Scheduling also records the time zone your browser reports so we can put the call in the right slot.

When you subscribe to our emails. Your email address and the name you gave us. Our email platform is Klaviyo. Klaviyo records which of our emails you open and which links you click, which is how we tell whether anyone is reading them.

When you apply for a job. Whatever you send to careers@gildgroup.com, typically a resume, a cover note, and your contact details.

When you email us or talk to us directly. The contents of the correspondence, plus whatever business context you choose to share about your company.

We do not ask for and do not want sensitive personal information through this site. Do not send us financial account numbers, government identification numbers, or health information through the contact form.

3Information collected automatically

Log and device data. Our host, Squarespace, records standard server information when you load a page: IP address, browser type and version, operating system, referring page, pages viewed, and timestamps.

Analytics. We run Google Analytics 4 (property G-NZ50562QBL), a legacy Google Universal Analytics property (UA-51522209-2), and Squarespace's built-in analytics. These tell us how many people visit, which pages they read, roughly where in the world they are, and how they found us. We look at this in aggregate. We are not trying to identify you personally from it.

Onsite behavior tracking. Klaviyo's onsite script records the pages you view on this site. If you have previously identified yourself to us by subscribing or filling in a form, Klaviyo can associate that browsing with your profile.

Spam prevention. Our contact form is protected by Google reCAPTCHA Enterprise, which collects device and behavioral signals to tell humans from bots. That collection is governed by Google's own privacy policy and terms.

Our Cookies page lists every cookie involved, what it does, and how long it lasts.

4How we use your information

We use personal information to:

  • Reply to your enquiry and schedule a conversation
  • Prepare for and follow up on an intro call
  • Evaluate whether we are a fit for your business, and tell you if we are not
  • Deliver services to clients and administer those engagements
  • Send marketing emails to people who asked for them

  • Protect the site against spam, fraud, and abuse

We do not use your information to make automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects about you.

5Who we share it with

We share personal information with a small set of vendors that run parts of our business. Each is bound by its own agreement with us and may use the data only to provide its service. The current list:

VendorWhat it handles
SquarespaceWebsite hosting, form submissions, site analytics
Squarespace Scheduling (Acuity)Intro call bookings
KlaviyoEmail marketing, onsite behavior tracking
GoogleAnalytics, reCAPTCHA Enterprise, Google Workspace email
SlackInternal communication about client work

We also disclose information when the law requires it, in response to a valid legal process, to protect our rights or someone's safety, and to professional advisers such as our lawyers and accountants under a duty of confidentiality.

If Gild is ever acquired or merges with another business, personal information may transfer as part of that transaction. If that happens, we will say so on this page before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not trade or rent contact lists. We have not done so in the preceding twelve months.

6Marketing email, and how to stop it

If you subscribe, we send occasional email about our work and what we are seeing in ecommerce. Every one of those emails carries an unsubscribe link that works, and using it removes you promptly.

Unsubscribing from marketing does not stop the operational email you actually asked for, such as a reply to your enquiry or a booking confirmation.

7Cookies

This site sets cookies for security, analytics, and marketing attribution. We do not currently show a consent banner, so cookies other than the strictly necessary ones are set when you load a page. You can block or delete them in your browser, and Google offers a dedicated opt-out for Analytics.

Full detail, including every cookie by name, is on our Cookies page.

8How long we keep it

DataRetention
Contact form submissions and correspondence3 years from last contact
Intro call booking records3 years from the booking
Email marketing profilesUntil you unsubscribe, then 12 months

Where we no longer need information, we delete it or strip it of anything identifying.

9Security

We use reputable vendors, encrypt this site in transit with TLS, restrict access to client and prospect data to the people who need it, and require multi-factor authentication on the systems that hold it.

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot promise absolute security. If a breach affects your personal information, we will notify you and the relevant authorities as the law requires.

10Your choices and rights

Wherever you live, you can:

  • Ask what we hold on you. Email us and we will tell you.
  • Ask us to correct it if it is wrong.
  • Ask us to delete it, subject to records we are required to keep.
  • Unsubscribe from marketing at any time.
  • Turn off cookies in your browser.

Email info@gildgroup.com with "Privacy request" in the subject line. We respond within 30 days. We may need to verify who you are before acting on a request, which usually means replying from the email address the request concerns.

We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.

11If you are a California resident

The California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the CPRA, gives California residents specific rights. This section explains how it applies here.

Your California rights: to know what we collect and why, to access a copy, to correct inaccuracies, to delete, to opt out of sale or sharing (not applicable, since we do neither), to limit use of sensitive personal information (not applicable, since we collect none), and to be free from discrimination for exercising these rights.

To exercise them, email info@gildgroup.com. An authorized agent may submit a request on your behalf with written proof of authorization.

12Client data we handle

Separately from this website, we operate marketing systems on behalf of our clients: Klaviyo accounts, ad accounts, Shopify stores, and analytics properties. Those systems contain personal information about our clients' customers.

In that work we act on the client's instructions, not on our own account. The client decides what is collected and why, their privacy policy governs it, and their customers should direct requests to them. We access that data only to do the work we were engaged to do, and our access ends when the engagement does.

If you are a customer of a Gild client and want to exercise a privacy right, contact that brand directly. They are the right party and they can act faster than we can.

13If you are outside the United States

We are based in Charleston, South Carolina, and our vendors process data in the United States. If you use this site from outside the US, your information is transferred to and processed in the US, where privacy law differs from the law where you live.

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you may have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection under the GDPR or UK GDPR. Email info@gildgroup.com and we will handle your request on the same terms as any other, within 30 days.

14Children

This site is for business audiences and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us information, email us and we will delete it.

15Changes to this policy

We update this policy when what we do changes. The effective date at the top always reflects the current version. If a change is significant, we will note it on this page.
