Cookies
Effective 20 August 2026
This site sets eight cookies. One keeps our forms secure. Five tell us how many people visit and which pages they read. Two belong to our email platform. None of them are sold, and none of them follow you around the internet to serve you ads.
We do not currently show a cookie banner, so these are set when you load a page. If you would rather not have them, section 5 explains how to turn them off. The site works either way.
1What a cookie is
A cookie is a small text file a website stores in your browser so it can recognize your browser on the next page or the next visit. Related technologies do much the same job: pixels and tracking scripts run inside the page, and local storage keeps data in the browser without sending it back on every request. When this page says "cookies," it means all of them.
First-party cookies are set by gildgroup.com. Third-party cookies are set by a service we run on the site, such as Google Analytics or Klaviyo.
2Why we use them
Three reasons, and no others:
1. Security. To make sure a form submission came from a real session on our site and not from somewhere else. 2. Measurement. To count visits, see which pages get read, and understand roughly where our traffic comes from. We read this in aggregate. 3. Email attribution. To connect a subscriber to the pages they viewed, so our email is relevant rather than generic.
We do not use cookies to build advertising profiles, and we do not run advertising or social media pixels on this site. There is no Meta pixel, no LinkedIn Insight Tag, and no TikTok pixel here.
3Every cookie we set
Measured on gildgroup.com on 20 August 2026. Durations are what the provider sets and can change without notice from us.
Strictly necessary
The site cannot work properly without these, and they cannot be switched off from here.
| Cookie | Set by | What it does | Lasts |
|---|---|---|---|
crumb | Squarespace (first party) | Anti-forgery token. Confirms a form submission came from this site. | Session |
Analytics and performance
These tell us how the site is used. Turning them off costs you nothing.
| Cookie | Set by | What it does | Lasts |
|---|---|---|---|
ss_cvr | Squarespace (first party) | Distinguishes unique visitors for Squarespace Analytics. | 2 years |
ss_cvt | Squarespace (first party) | Tracks the current visit for Squarespace Analytics. | 30 minutes |
_ga | Google Analytics | Assigns a random ID so returning visits are counted once. | 2 years |
_ga_NZ50562QBL | Google Analytics 4 | Holds session state for our GA4 property. | 2 years |
_gid | Google Analytics | Distinguishes visitors within a 24-hour window. | 24 hours |
_gat_gtag_UA_51522209_2 | Google Analytics | Throttles the rate of requests to our legacy Universal Analytics property. | 1 minute |
Marketing and personalization
| Cookie | Set by | What it does | Lasts |
|---|---|---|---|
__kla_id | Klaviyo | Identifies your browser to our email platform and records which pages you viewed, so that if you have subscribed, we can see what you read. | 2 years |
We also embed Google reCAPTCHA Enterprise on the contact form. It collects device and behavioral signals to tell humans apart from bots, and it may set cookies on Google domains. It is what keeps our inbox usable. Google's own privacy policy governs it.
Our intro call scheduler at gildgroup.as.me is a separate Squarespace Scheduling domain with its own cookies, set only if you go there to book.
4Who receives this data
| Provider | Role | Their policy |
|---|---|---|
| Squarespace | Hosting and site analytics | squarespace.com/privacy |
| Analytics and reCAPTCHA | policies.google.com/privacy | |
| Klaviyo | Email marketing and onsite tracking | klaviyo.com/legal/privacy |
We do not sell the data these cookies generate, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
5How to turn them off
In your browser. Every major browser lets you block or delete cookies, and blocking third-party cookies stops the analytics and Klaviyo cookies above while leaving the site usable.
Google Analytics specifically. Google publishes a browser add-on that opts you out of Analytics everywhere, not just here: tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
Global Privacy Control. If your browser or extension sends a GPC signal, our vendors that honor it will treat it as an opt-out of sale and sharing. Since we do neither, this changes nothing about what we do, but the signal is respected downstream.
Do Not Track. There is still no agreed standard for how sites should respond to DNT headers, so we do not respond to them. The controls above work.
Klaviyo. Unsubscribing from our email removes you from our list. Clearing the __kla_id cookie in your browser stops the onsite tracking.
Blocking cookies is safe here. The only thing that changes is that our analytics stop counting you, and if you block the crumb cookie, the contact form may stop working.
6Changes to this page
We update this page when the cookies on the site change. The effective date at the top tells you when it was last verified against the live site. If we ever add advertising pixels or a consent banner, this page changes first.
